Answer

After several years of offering barcoded Breakopen,

in 2018 Atlantic Lottery removed the barcode from Breakopen tickets.

When Barcoded Breakopen was introduced in 2011, one of the key benefits was to help reduce the risk of product tampering. Additional security features were also implemented at that time as well as others since. Today these features include:

  • Win Box
  • UV Ink
  • Lines that cross mullions
  • Audit codes

This change aligns us with industry standards and norms. These features – not Barcodes - are used by the majority of lotteries who offer Breakopen product today. We’re confident the security features available on non-barcoded Breakopen meet our gaming and security standards.
