Answer
In September 2011,
we made a commitment to all Atlantic Canadians to review our statistics and processes related to Non-Arm’s Length wins because apparent statistical anomalies in the winner profile made some wonder whether Non-Arm’s Length players were winning more frequently than normal.
The external and internal reviews validated that Atlantic Lottery’s processes are effective and in line with industry standards. It also validated that we have an intensive investigative process for all major prize winners to ensure the legitimacy of each win. It validated that the number of Non-Arm’s Length wins are within the range of natural variation expected.
* Atlantic Lottery began using the term Related Parties instead of Non-Arm’s Length effective April 1, 2012. The term refers to people who sell lottery products or who may be deemed to be associated with Atlantic Lottery.
