Hello! This interesting looking video has no opened captions for us Deaf and Hard of Hearing Viewers! I am searching for how can my Deaf organization apply for a possible funding for sponsorship to this coming Halifax Premiere, "Halifax Explosion: The Deaf Experience" Film Night festival from your Funding Lottery Agency? Plan to have this special Film Night on Sat Sept 30th. Hope to get your reply soon. Hi Jim; Thank you for your comments about Closed Captioning on our videos. Closed Captioning is not something we currently use on AskAway as all of the pages that feature videos also have written answers posted. We appreciate this may not be the best user experience for anyone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing and we’ll be looking into how we can better serve these viewers on AskAway. In regards to our sponsorship program, Atlantic Lottery offers two distinct types of support: summer festivals and events, and corporate events. For more information on these programs, you can visit our corporate website and the “Giving Back” section (http://bit.ly/SponsorshipPrograms) to get specific details. Unfortunately, we’re no longer taking applications for events happening in 2017. If you have an event happening in 2018 that you think will fit our program, please check back later this year for the 2018 application. So what does $422 million/year in profits actually provide Atlantic Canada besides advertising, marketing, other than promoting social gambling across Atlantic Canada?

Good morning Tod, thank you for your inquiry. Our job is to ensure we give back 100% of our profits to the 4 Atlantic provinces and from there, they use it to fix things like roads, schools, hospitals...You can find more details, of what ALC did last year, including ALC sponsored community events, in the following links https://www.alc.ca/content/alc/en/corporate/giving-back/where-the-money-goes.html & https://www.alc.ca/content/alc/en/corporate/giving-back/current-events.html . Last fiscal year (2016/17), $422 million in profit was returned to the four provinces. $138.8 million went back to NL; $136.9 million went back to NS; $128.2 million went back to NB; and $17.9 million went back to PEI.
