When using the self ticket scanner at a local store. The scanner said check with retailer. What does this mean.? I threw away the ticket bc I thought I didn’t win :(

Hi Caryn, The self ticket scanner at local stores are meant to give you a general idea of if a ticket is a winning or non-winning ticket. It is an unofficial check. If the scanner advised you to check with a retailer, the scanner is recommended that you do an official validation of your ticket with the retailer. In some cases, the ticket scanner will ask you to do this if you have a winning ticket, because you must validate your ticket in order to get paid out for your prize. Potentially it may also ask you to validate the ticket with a retailer if the scanner is not able to check your ticket. Hope this helps, -Jordan
